The defending World Series champions will reportedly acquire reliever Justin Wilson and veteran catcher Alex Avila from the Detroit Tigers for two minor leaguers and a player to be named later. 

Reports surfaced that the deal would likely be concluded early on Monday, the final day for teams to make deals prior to the non-waiver trade deadline. 

It's definitely a bold move from a Cubs team that had struggled throughout the first half of the season but is coming on strong as of late. It also comes on the heels of Chicago adding Jose Quintana from the Chicago White Sox earlier in July. 

The centerpiece of this deal is Wilson, who has dominated to the tune of a 2.68 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 3.22 FIP thus far on the season. The left-handed set-up man has also struck out 55 batters in 40 innings on the year. 

Wilson's presence should help shorten games for top-end starters Jon Lester, Jake Arrieta, Kyle Kendicks and the aforementioned Quintana. He will now team up with closer Wade Davis as well as set-up men Brian Duensing and Carl Edwards to form a solid back end of the bullpen. That should represent a solid fantasy boon for Chicago's top-end starters. 

Avila comes over to Chicago to act as Willson Contreras' primary backup at catcher. He was hitting .274 with 11 homers and 32 RBI at the time of the deal and also has the ability to place first base. 

In terms of Detroit's haul in the deal, it did pick up No. 1 Cubs prospect, infielder Jeimer Candelario. A corner infielder, the 23-year-old is hitting .266 with 12 homers and 52 RBI in Triple-A Iowa this season. It would not be a surprise to see him get extensive action for the Tigers down the stretch.
