In a last-minute trade leading up to Monday's deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired ace starter Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers in exchange for three prospects.
It's a move meant to bolster what the Dodgers, who boast a MLB-best 74-31 mark, will do in the playoffs. It also gives the team short-term relief with Clayton Kershaw out the next 3-5 weeks due to a back injury.
With a 33-5 record in their past 38 games, the Dodgers are in a tremendous situation as the remainder of the regular season playoffs out. But now they have a potentially dominating 1-2 punch for the postseason.
Darvish, 30, has struggled to an extent, posting a 6-9 record with a 4.01 ERA. But his other splits are much more friendly. The four-time All-Star has posted a 1.17 WHIP with a 3.98 FIP. He's also struck out 148 batters in 137 innings.
Going from pitching at Arlington to Dodger Stadium should also act as a big boon. Just look at Darvish's splits in 2017.
Home: 5.38 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and .297 BABip
Away: 2.49 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and .250 BABip
Arlington boasts the fifth-best hitter-friendly park in baseball this season with Dodger Stadium ranking in the bottom half. That's going to definitely act as a major role in Darvish's fantasy success for the remainder of the season.
Let's not even take into account that Los Angeles has scored the fifth-most runs in baseball and should provide him more support at the plate.
