This shouldn't come as too much of a surprise. The Los Angeles Dodgers have informed young hurler Julio Urias that he will not be on the Opening Day Roster. 

This comes just a week after manager Dave Roberts concluded that the 20-year-old Urias would not make the team's starting rotation out of spring. Considering they had no intention of pitching him out of the bullpen, no one should be shocked by this move. 

It, however, does come just one day after the Dodgers announced that Scott Kazmir would open the season on the disabled list. 

Urias was a bit erratic as a teenage rookie last season, posting a 1.46 WHIP in 18 games (16 appearances). With that said, he posted 84 strikeouts in 77 innings while collecting a solid 3.39 ERA. 

Once Urias does hit the Dodgers' rotation, presumably sometime after April, he will be a legitimate fantasy force. That much isn't really in question right now. It's all about timing and just how slow the Dodgers plan on taking it with their young phenom.
