We are less than two weeks away from the waiver trade deadline, and moves are still being made. The defending champion San Francisco Giants have added some pop by acquiring outfielder Marlon Byrd from the Cincinnati Reds for Double-A pitcher Stephen Johnson.
Byrd, 37, was hitting just .237 with a low .286 on-base percentage at the time of the trade. Though, he has hit 19 homers and driven in 42 runs. It's much needed power for a Giants offense that has been injury riddled all season. Joe Panik and Hunter Pence currently find themselves on the disabled list.
With a solid .280 average against left-handed pitchers this season, Byrd will likely be used in a platoon. He will be worth a potential value play in DFS leagues when said situations arise.
