Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Junior Guerra couldn't even get through his entire first start of the season before pulling up lame.
The team's Opening Day starter exited Monday's loss against the Colorado Rockies after just three innings following a calf injury he suffered running out a bunt.
The 32-year-old starter was placed on the disabled list immediately after the game, which has to be considered an ominous sign.
When all was said and done, Guerra gave up two earned and one hit whiles striking out four in three innings of work. The veteran earned Milwaukee's Openind Day start after posting a 9-3 record with a 2.81 ERA in 20 appearances (all starts) last season.
With Guerra sidelined for what will be at least two starts, look for veteran Tommy Malone to take his turn in the rotation. Though, it's likely a longer-term injury for Guerra, especially considering he was seen getting around on crutches in the clubhouse following the game.
