Injury Alert: Indians Place 2B Jason Kipnis on 10-Day Disabled List

The Cleveland Indians will not have one of their top hitters in the mix for the first week and a half of the regular season. On Sunday, the defending AL Champions placed All-Star second baseman Jason Kipnis on the 10-day disabled list with rotator cuff inflammation.

It does seem to be a short-term injury, as Kipnis just recently indicated that he's turned the corner from the injury that impacted him throughout the spring.

Set to turn 30 on Monday, Kipnis hit .275 with 23 homers and 82 RBI. He's among the best power-hitting fantasy options from the second base position.

With Kipnis out 10 days, look for Jose Ramirez to ove to second base with youngster Yandy Diaz manning the hot corner. Diaz hit .318 with nine homers and 58 RBI in between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

He's definitely someone worth monitoring especially if Kipnis returns healthy and the Indians look to bolster their roster with a trade.
