One really has to wonder whether the Seattle Mariners can overcome their recent bout with injuries. With Felix Hernandez and James Paxton already sidelined, Seattle now faces the specter of missing fellow veteran Hisashi Iwakuma for up to six weeks.
Iwakuma has inflammation in his throwing shoulder and is expected to be sidelined for the next four-to-six weeks. It's another major blow to an average Mariners team that's looking to keep its head above water.
While Iwakuma has not been great this season, he acted as a solid veteran force in the middle of the team's rotation. With the vet sidelined, Christian Bergman will continue to fill his spot in the rotation. In no way is Bergman a fantasy-relevant option. Over the course of parts of four MLB seasons, he's posted a 5.70 ERA and 1.56 WHIP in 57 appearances (16 starts).
