Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher and Cy Young front runner Clayton Kershaw exited Sunday's game against the Atlanta Braves in the second inning with an unknown injury.
But immediately after the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts indicated Kershaw will be placed on the 10-day disabled list with tightness in his lower back.
This has to be of concern for the Dodgers, especially considering Kershaw missed two months last season with a herniated disc in his back. Though, there's no real reason to believe the two injuries are related.
Thus far this season, the veteran is pitching to a 15-2 mark with a 2.07 ERA and 0.89 WHIP. He's also struck out 166 batters in 139.1 innings. He remains one of the most-dominant pitchers in the modern history of the game. Needless to say, the hope is that Kershaw will only miss a couple weeks.
From a fantasy perspective, Los Angeles currently finds itself with a 68-31 mark and 10.5 games ahead of the Colorado Rockies in the NL West. Expect the Dodgers to take it easy with Kershaw, which could limit his fantasy impact moving forward on the season.
