Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was pulled after five innings of his team's Opening Day loss to the Houston Astros with a groin injury.
Hernandez suffered said injury while running to cover first base on a ground out in the fourth inning. While he was able to pitch through it for a bit, eventually the Mariners pulled him in a game the team would lose 3-0 to the division rival Astros.
Despite the scare, it looks like Hernandez will be able to take his next turn in the rotation this upcoming weekend. It would come Saturday on the road against the Los Angeles Angles and Ricky Nolasco.
Hernandez yielded to earned runs and five hits while striking out six in Monday's loss to Houston. He also gave up two homers. The veteran is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him put up his worst statistical season since all the way back in 2007.
