Baltimore Orioles catcher Welington Castillo was held out of the team's previous game on Monday with injuries to his shoulder and neck region.
Castillo was questionable to take on the Boston Red Sox heading into Tuesday's action, but now there is some concern that his injury could be longer term.
The Orioles' top backstop underwent an MRI on his shoulder on Tuesday and will be held out of the lineup for the second consecutive game. There won't be a status update until results come back on Wednesday.
With Castillo out of action here, Caleb Joseph will fill in as Baltimore's starting catcher.
Castillo is hitting .314 with one homer and six RBI in his first season with the Orioles after being acquired from Arizona during the winter.
