Some tragic news coming from the world of Major League Baseball. Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Yordano Ventura died Sunday morning in his native Dominican Republic after being involved in a car accident. 

There's not much news available regarding what surrounded the accident itself, but the Royals confirmed the death of their 25-year-old starting pitcher shortly after multiple media outlets reported it. 

Ventura joined the Royals back in 2013 before ultimately seeing his first real action in 2014, posting a 14-10 record with a. 3.20 ERA en route to finishing sixth in the AL Rookie of the Year voting. That season saw him help Kansas City earn its first American League pennant in two decades. He would follow that up with a solid performance in 2015, en route to leading the Royals to the World Series title.
