Should The New York Yankees Blow It Up?

Should The New York Yankees Blow It Up?

Will we as baseball fans ever get to see the day where the New York Yankees decide to blow up what is now Major League Baseball’s second most expensive ship and start over? Not likely. While the team isn’t so much reminiscent of the Bronx Bombers of the past, they continue to be a thorn in the side of every team in the American League East, season after season. The Yankees always seem to make their way into the mix at some point during the season, all the reason for them to stay away from trading and selling off their players.

Brian Cashman knows exactly what’s available to him, despite what the rest of the baseball world believes. Last offseason wasn’t supposed to be won by the Yankees, a baseball club that many ruled out in terms of what they would be able to do on the free agent market. However, Cashman made everyone well aware that the Yankees are not only devoted to fielding a team that will be relevant , but also a team that can be a contender as well. The Jacoby Ellsbury and Masahiro Tanaka signings are massive deals that have proved to allow the Yankees to stay afloat in the AL East. Along with deals such as these, the Yankees always manage to do the little things right.

While the Yankees have struggled at home in the Bronx, posting a 13-16 record at Yankee Stadium, they have managed to play well on the road, which all good teams should know how to do. As of June 12 the Yankees have put up a solid record of 20-15 on the road. Another reason to believe that the team they have can make some noise in the stat categories that many teams have trouble with. This is why the Yankees always believe in the team they put on the field.

Any thought of the Yankees wanting to throw in the towel, so to speak, and give up on the initial investments they have already made couldn’t be further from the truth.  The days of Robinson Cano have long been forgotten as the Yankees organization and their fans just want to move on. With the ability to entice any high-profile free agent in the offseason, to their ability to play good baseball in places where a lot of other teams don’t, the Yankees will always ride the wave they put themselves in and believe in the expensive product they put on the field.
