This can't be good news for the NL-east leading Washington Nationals. Just 2.1 innings into his first start since returning from a stint on the 15-day disabled list, ace starter Stephen Strasburg exited the game with what might very well be another elbow injury.
Strasburg was initially placed on the DL after feeling discomfort in his throwing elbow. Though, no MRI was conducted at that time. Now, just over two weeks since that initial injury, an MRI is scheduled for the injury-prone starting pitcher.
This will lead some to wonder whether Strasburg should have been held back until further tests were done on the elbow. That will only be magnified should this injury end up being severe. The bad omen here is that Strasburg felt a pinch in the back of the same elbow that sidelined him last month.
The 28-year-old starter previously underwent Tommy John Surgery back in 2010. So there's definitely a history here.
We will update the story when results of the MRI are released.
