As the Texas Rangers work on closing in on the Seattle Mariners for first place in the A.L. West, they have welcomed back a key bat that to help their efforts. On Friday, the Rangers activated outfielder Shin-Soo Choo from the disabled list, after he missed over a month with a calf injury.
Choo missed five weeks of action after suffering a strained calf earlier in the season and had spent the last week on a rehab assignment in the minors. Choo had played in just five games before the calf injury, collecting only three hits in 16 at bats and no extra-base hits.
While the possibility of injuries still remains with Choo, who had missed 52 games over his past two seasons with the Rangers, his .276/.375/.463 triple-slash line last season along with 22 home runs and 82 RBI's showed his importance to the Rangers.
With Choo's return to right field, it will push rookie Nomar Mazara into left field. Mazara, who was called up when Choo was placed on the disabled list, is hitting .307 this season with five home runs and 13 RBI's across 33 games. Mazara and Choo are both were owning in all fantasy leagues.
