Fantasy baseball playoffs have huge implications on the level of smack talk you can throw at your friends. The better you do the more you talk. It’s really a beautiful thing. The best part is when you pick up guys like the ones below who just go off for you. This week is as big as any other as far as waiver pick ups because it could make or break your season. Below is the three most surprising players of week 23.

Josmil Pinto,  Catcher, Minnesota Twins

In his last five games this guy has had the best batting average in the entire league. He has hit safely in 10 of his last 18 at-bats, putting his batting average at .556. He added one home run with three RBIs to go along with a walk. This guy is owned in nearly no leagues so if you happened to pick him up this week, you my friend are a legend. Might as well keep this guy if you did pick him up. He is a catcher and they are always hard to come by so if you did pick him up you really have no other option. Will Middlebrooks,  Third Basemen, Boston Red Sox

Going to be a little hard to pick this guy up but your chances are 50/50. The Red Sox have had an amazing run of hitting in the past couple of weeks and Will has been right in the thick of it. He hit three home runs while driving in eight with a stolen base. He has had a poor year to this point but has really turned it on in the past seven games. Keep playing this guy until he cools off.

Brandon Barnes,  Center Fielder, Houston Astros

The Astros always seem to have one random guy performing well on again given week. The only problem with that is that the one guy who is doing good is most likely the only guy who's doing good. The leader of RBIs in the majors this week goes to Barnes who hit for nine, one short of the ever so impressive double digits. He also walked twice and stole a base. He is very aggressive on the basepaths as he was caught four times this week. This doesn’t really affect his ownerships feelings because you don’t receive negative points for caught stealing; in most leagues anyways.
