There seems to be growing concern that Detroit Tigers outfielder J.D. Martinez will miss extended time. The former All-Star suffered what was originally diagnosed as a mid-foot sprain after he injured it on the field Saturday against the Miami Marlins.
In a sign that things might be more serious, Detroit is not releasing the results it received on the MRI a day after Martinez suffered the injury. Instead, he's set to undergo a CT scan while visiting a foot specialist in North Carolina on Friday.
Martinez, 29, is coming off a 2016 campaign that saw him post a .307 average with 22 homers and 68 RBI. Though, he did miss 42 games to injury.
As fantasy baseball drafts start to get going big time here, this is surely something to keep an eye on. If you're taking part in a draft prior to Friday, it's best to push Martinez down a couple notches.
