Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Justin Verlander was pulled from Sunday's start in the third inning with a tight groin. The Tigers noted that it was nothing more than a precaution, but this should be of concern moving forward.
Verlander was struggling against the White Sox, having thrown 72 pitchers in two-plus innings. Obviously, he wasn't right.
The former AL Cy Young winner is pitching to a 4-4 record with an elevated (for his standards) 4.50 ERA and 1.37 WHIP on the season.
We'll have further updates when they become available.
