After just one start in a San Francisco Giants uniform, Mike Leake has been placed in the 15-day disabled list with a hamstring injury. It was reported on Thursday that the trade deadline acquisition was scratched from his start against the Chicago Cubs.
He's now going to miss more than that one start:
Considering the move was made retroactive to Monday, Leake might only miss Friday's start against Chicago and one more before being activated. Though, he would then be pushed back a couple days when eligible to return.
In his first start as a member of the Giants after being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds late last month, Leake yielded two runs in 6.1 innings against the Texas Rangers.
Prior to the deal to San Francisco, the 27-year-old starter had put up a 9-5 record with a 3.55 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in 21 starts with Cincinnati. Including his debut with the Giants last weekend, Leake is 4-2 with a sub 2.00 ERA and a WHIP of barely over 1.00 in his last six starts.
