New York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez was placed on the 10-day disabled list over the weekend after suffering a strained bicep muscle during Satuday's game against the Baltimore Orioles.
The injury itself came on an awkward swing in the fifth inning and forced Sanchez from the action. Though, it was not immediately known how long he would be out.
Manager Joe Girardi confirmed on Monday evening that it's likely going to cost Sanchez the next four weeks.
Not only is this unfortunate for the Yankees, it's a major setback for fantasy owners that were expecting big things from Sanchez in his first full MLB season. The young catcher was being relied on as a top fantasy catcher after putting up 20 homers and 42 RBI to go with a .299 average in 201 at-bats last season.
Austin Romine will be the Yankees' primary backstop until Sanchez returns.
