The Oakland Athletics received some good news on Wednesday. Surprising veteran Yonder Alonso was hit in the wrist late in Tuesday's game and had to be removed from the action.
Expectations at that point were that Alonso might be forced out with a long-term injury. But his x-rays on Wednesday came up negative, indicating that Alonso will not have to hit the disabled list. While he's out of the lineup, this is some rather good news for the A's.
In the midst of a career season that has seen him hit a personal best 13 homers to go with 30 RBI, Alonso has continued to remain a viable fantasy option. Having to sit Wednesday aside, this could continue.
