Yankees at Angels

The New York Yankees have won a season-best four straight games and six of their last seven despite being ravaged by ailments. The team with 12 players on the injured list looks to continue its strong play when it visits the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday for the second contest of their four-game series.

Slugger Aaron Judge (oblique) was the latest to join the long list that includes fellow outfielder Giancarlo Stanton (biceps), third baseman Miguel Andjuar (shoulder), shortstop Troy Tulowitzki (calf), catcher Gary Sanchez (calf), starting pitcher Luis Severino (shoulder) and reliever Dellin Betances (shoulder) among others. New York managed just five hits in Monday's 4-3 win over the Angels but pushed across the winning run on Gio Urshela's 14th-inning single into the gap in right-center field. Los Angeles recorded seven hits in the marathon contest as it lost for the seventh time in eight games. Third-place hitter Andrelton Simmons and cleanup batter Albert Pujols each went 0-for-5 on Monday, with Simmons having a seven-game hitting streak during which he went 13-for-32 come to an end.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Yankees RH Jonathan Loaisiga (0-0, 3.86 ERA) vs. Angels RH Chris Stratton (0-1, 7.00)

Loaisiga is being recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to make a spot start in order to give the five rotation members an extra day of rest. The 24-year-old has made two starts for New York this season, allowing one run in four innings against Detroit on April 3 and two runs over three frames versus Houston six days later. Loaisiga has posted a 4.91 road ERA in six career outings but has registered 24 strikeouts in just 14 2/3 innings.

Stratton allowed six runs and seven hits over five innings against Seattle in his last turn and received a no-decision. The 28-year-old has pitched five or fewer innings in all four of his starts and has more walks (13) than strikeouts (11). Stratton experienced difficulties with DJ LeMahieu (4-for-12, three walks) when both players were in the National League.

WALK-OFFS

1. Sanchez went 0-for-3 with a passed ball while playing five innings in a rehab outing for Single-A Charleston and is expected to join the Yankees on Wednesday.

2. Los Angeles 3B Zack Cozart (neck) departed Monday's game in the 12th inning after being injured diving into second base as a runner.

3. New York released LHP Gio Gonzalez from his minor-league contract - making him a free agent - and signed INF Brad Miller to a minor-league deal.
