Orioles at White Sox (Game 1)
The Chicago White Sox seek a season-high fourth straight victory when they host the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday for a doubleheader due to the rainout of the middle contest of the three-game set on Tuesday. Chicago received homers from Tim Anderson and Yonder Alonso while recording a 5-3 triumph in the series opener.
James McCann went 3-for-5 with two doubles for the White Sox and has recorded four multi-hit performances in his last five contests - a stretch during which he is a torrid 11-for-23. Jose Abreu also is swinging a hot bat, recording two hits in the opener to improve to 17-for-35 over his last eight games. Baltimore pitchers are having trouble keeping the ball in the park as the two homers allowed on Monday increased the team's season total to a major league-high 73. The Orioles have scored just seven runs while going 0-4 on their six-game road trip and have dropped eight of their last 10 contests.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Orioles RH David Hess (1-4, 5.88 ERA) vs. White Sox LH Carlos Rodon (3-2, 4.94)
Hess is looking to end his four-start losing streak that includes a home setback against Chicago on April 22 in which he yielded four runs and five hits over five innings. The loss dropped the 25-year-old Tennessean to 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in two turns versus the White Sox in his brief time in the majors. Hess registered a career-high eight strikeouts in 6 1/3 hitless frames at Toronto in his first road start of 2019 but has lost his last two outings away from home, including a defeat at Tampa Bay on April 17 in which he was battered for six runs and eight hits - three homers - over two innings.
Rodon escaped with a no-decision against Detroit on Friday after being roughed up for eight runs on nine hits - three homers - and three walks in three innings. The 26-year-old Floridian surrendered a total of nine earned runs in 28 frames over his first five turns this season. Rodon has yet to defeat Baltimore in his career, going 0-2 with a 3.79 ERA in three starts and one relief appearance.
