Indians at Athletics
Matt Chapman capped a 2-for-5 performance with a leadoff home run in the 12th inning on Friday, giving the Oakland Athletics a 4-3 victory. The Athletics hope to avoid extra frames when they host the Cleveland Indians for the middle contest of their three-game series.
Josh Phegley collected three hits and an RBI for Oakland, which improved to 3-1 on its six-game homestand. The veteran catcher had registered one hit in his previous five contests. Tyler Naquin recorded his second two-hit performance in three games on Friday as the Indians suffered their fourth loss in six contests. Francisco Lindor lifted a sacrifice fly in the setback and added a single to extend his hitting streak to five games.
