Brewers at Phillies

The Philadelphia Phillies have bolstered their lead atop the National League East with wins in three straight and 11 of their last 15 contests. The Phillies aim to continue their torrid ascent on Tuesday, when they play the second contest of their four-game series versus the visiting Milwaukee Brewers, who have lost three in a row.

After ripping a two-run double in Sunday's 6-1 win at Kansas City, J.T. Realmuto hit a go-ahead RBI double in the seventh inning the following night in a 7-4 victory over Milwaukee. Odubel Herrera added insurance with a two-run double later in the frame, giving him eight hits - including six for extra bases - to go along with eight RBIs and four runs scored in his last six games. The Brewers were unable to take advantage of the career-high five-hit performance in the series opener by Lorenzo Cain, who has hit safely in 10 of his last 12 contests. Jesus Aguilar rides a seven-game hitting streak into Tuesday's matchup while Mike Moustakas homered in the series opener after going 0-for-10 with four strikeouts in his previous two games.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Brewers RH Brandon Woodruff (5-1, 4.25 ERA) vs. Phillies RH Jerad Eickhoff (2-1, 1.50)

Woodruff has become quite stingy during his three-game winning streak, allowing one run for the third straight outing in a 7-3 triumph versus Washington on Wednesday. The 26-year-old struck out a season-best nine batters in that contest and did not issue a walk for the first time in 2019. The Phillies' current roster is 2-for-20 with five strikeouts against Woodruff, who allowed one run and one hit in four innings of a no-decision at Philadelphia on June 10, 2018.

Eickhoff authored his third scoreless performance in five outings on Wednesday, scattering three hits over eight innings in a 5-0 win at St. Louis. The 28-year-old's lone issue has been his walks, as he has issued at least three free passes in his last four turns. Christian Yelich is 4-for-13 with a solo homer against Eickhoff, who owns a 1-2 record and 5.50 ERA in three career meetings with Milwaukee.

WALK-OFFS

1. Yelich has recorded nine hits and scored eight runs in his last eight games.

2. Philadelphia RF Bryce Harper struck out three times in the series opener, marking a major league-high 19th time that he has fanned multiple times in a contest this season.

3. Brewers OF Ryan Braun has been held out of the starting lineup in three straight games because of a sore left hamstring.
