Athletics at Mariners

The Seattle Mariners were one strike away from having a dismal losing stretch continue but instead are in position to sweep a two-game set from the visiting Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. Seattle pushed across two runs in the bottom of the 10th inning for a 6-5 victory on Monday - just its third win in its last 15 contests.

Ramon Laureano belted Oakland's fifth solo homer of the contest to give his team a 5-4 lead before Seattle's Domingo Santana hit a game-tying double and scored the winning run on Omar Narvaez's single to left field. Daniel Vogelbach hit a three-run homer in the eighth and Mitch Haniger belted a leadoff shot for the Mariners, who halted their four-game slide. Khris Davis ended a 20-game home-run drought by slugging two on Monday while Mark Canha and Matt Olson also went deep. The Athletics have dropped 10 of their last 11 away games and are 5-14 overall on the road.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics LH Brett Anderson (4-2, 4.19 ERA) vs. Mariners RH Mike Leake (2-4, 4.37)

Anderson did not factor in the decision in his last turn after giving up four runs and five hits over six innings against Cincinnati. The 31-year-old had control issues and walked a season-worst five batters after issuing just eight free passes over his previous five turns. Anderson is 8-4 with a 2.19 ERA in 19 career appearances (18 starts) against Seattle.

Leake is 0-4 over his last six starts and hasn't won since beating the Chicago White Sox on April 6. The 31-year-old pitched well in his last outing against the New York Yankees but took the loss despite allowing just one run and six hits over seven frames. Leake is 1-2 with a 4.57 ERA in eight career starts against the Athletics and has struggled to retire Matt Chapman (6-for-16, two homers, three doubles).

WALK-OFFS

1. The Athletics activated Canha (wrist) from the 10-day injured list - he went 1-for-5 on Monday - and designated 1B-DH Kendrys Morales for assignment.

2. Mariners 3B Kyle Seager (hand) is slated to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma on Tuesday.

3. Davis has belted 23 career homers against Seattle.
