Padres at Dodgers
Cody Bellinger looks to continue his season-long assault on major-league pitchers when the Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their two-game series against the visiting San Diego Padres on Wednesday. Bellinger homered and drove in three runs in Tuesday's 6-3 victory to raise his major league-leading batting average to .409.
Bellinger tops the majors with 41 RBIs and is third with 15 homers, one behind co-leaders Christian Yelich of Milwaukee and George Springer of Houston. Joc Pederson added his 100th career shot - 13 of his 26 hits this season have cleared the wall - as Los Angeles won for the 13th time in 18 games. San Diego's Manny Machado returned to Dodger Stadium for the first time since leaving as a free agent this past winter and went 3-for-4, including a 441-foot homer off Clayton Kershaw. The Padres have dropped four of their last six contests and allowed 35 runs in the four setbacks.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Padres LH Matt Strahm (1-2, 3.00 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Kenta Maeda (4-2, 4.03)
Strahm has allowed fewer than three earned runs in six straight starts after being roughed up for five in 2 2/3 innings by Arizona in his season debut. The 27-year-old settled for a no-decision against the New York Mets in his last turn, when he gave up two runs and six hits over 6 1/3 frames. Strahm has posted a 1.50 ERA in four career appearances (one start) against Los Angeles and has yet to retire David Freese (2-for-2, one double).
Maeda ended his three-start winless stretch by giving up one hit over six scoreless innings in a victory over Washington in his last turn. The 31-year-old made his previous start against the Padres and did not factor in the decision as he allowed four runs and three hits over six frames. Maeda is 5-3 with a 4.55 ERA in 14 career appearances (12 starts) versus San Diego and has dominated Wil Myers (3-for-24, 12 strikeouts).
