Marlins at Padres

After breaking even on their six-game road trip, the San Diego Padres have picked up right where they left off at home. San Diego aims for its fifth consecutive victory at Petco Park when it hosts the Miami Marlins on Saturday for the middle contest of their three-game series.

The Padres concluded their last stretch at home with three straight wins over Arizona and began this 10-game homestand Friday with a 5-2 triumph over the Marlins. Franmil Reyes, Ian Kinsler and Hunter Renfroe belted solo homers, with the former two finishing with a pair of hits and the latter notching at least one in six of his last seven contests. Rosell Herrera belted a pinch-hit homer for Miami, which has lost back-to-back games after winning three straight. Garrett Cooper also notched one of the Marlins' four hits after recording two in three of his previous four contests.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Jose Urena (3-6, 4.11 ERA) vs. Padres LH Nick Margevicius (2-5, 4.96)

Urena has won back-to-back starts after losing his previous three decisions, allowing two earned runs in each victory while issuing only three walks over 13 innings. The 27-year-old Dominican has given up fewer than three earned runs in each of his last four turns and seven of his last eight but has won only three of those outings. Urena has yet to defeat San Diego in his career, going 0-3 with a 3.57 ERA in four starts.

Margevicius is expected to be recalled from Double-A Amarillo to make the 10th start of his rookie season and first since May 18, when he yielded six runs and eight hits (four homers) over four innings in a loss to Pittsburgh. The 22-year-old native of Ohio made one start for the Sod Poodles since being demoted May 19, permitting one run on one hit - a solo homer - and one walk in two frames of a no-decision. Margevicius will be facing Miami for the first time.

WALK-OFFS

1. Reyes (16) and Renfroe (15) are on pace to become the first Padres with 40 homers in a season since Adrian Gonzalez accomplished the feat in 2009.

2. Miami placed 1B Neil Walker (quadriceps) on the 10-day injured list and recalled SS J.T. Riddle from Triple-A New Orleans.

3. San Diego sent OF Franchy Cordero (elbow) to Triple-A El Paso for a rehab assignment.
