Rockies at Mets

The Colorado Rockies are rolling along with wins in 10 of their last 12 games and pulled even on their road trip by outlasting the New York Mets 5-1 on Friday. The Rockies will try to make it 11 of 13 and clinch a series win when they visit the Mets for the second of a three-game series on Saturday.

Colorado dropped two games at Chicago to begin the six-game trip before taking the series finale 3-1 on Thursday and kept up the strong pitching behind six strong innings from Antonio Senzatela and solid work from the bullpen. The Rockies were clinging to a 2-1 lead going into the eighth before David Dahl and Daniel Murphy homered in the eighth on Friday, and Dahl finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs to extend his string of games with at least one hit and one run scored to nine. New York wasted a solid outing from ace Jacob deGrom and fell for the sixth time in the last nine games to fall three games under .500. The Mets will turn to left-hander Steven Matz on Saturday while the Rockies call on righty Jon Gray.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rockies RH Jon Gray (5-4, 4.11 ERA) vs. Mets LH Steven Matz (4-4, 3.97)

Gray had his start pushed back two days due to a finger issue and is hoping to rediscover the form that saw him scatter two hits over 6 2/3 scoreless frames in a win over Toronto last time out on June 1. The Oklahoma native is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA over his last three outings after posting a 7.71 ERA in his previous four turns. Gray is seeing New York for the first time since 2017, when he was ripped for eight runs on nine hits and three walks in two innings to suffer a loss.

Matz is looking to bounce back after getting knocked around for five runs on eight hits - two homers - and two walks in six innings in a loss at Arizona on Sunday. The 28-year-old surrendered three or fewer earned runs in each of his previous six outings. Matz allowed one run in six innings at home against the Rockies last season but was roughed up for five runs in 5 2/3 frames in a start at Colorado.

WALK-OFFS

1. Mets 2B Robinson Cano (quad) missed the last two games and is day-to-day.

2. Colorado OF Charlie Blackmon (calf) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list prior to Friday's game but did not play.

3. Colorado RHP Wade Davis (oblique) also was reinstated from the 10-day IL and struck out one in a scoreless ninth.
