White Sox at Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox hope to build off a comeback victory when they send veteran left-hander David Price to the mound on Tuesday night for the second of a three-game set against the visiting Chicago White Sox. The Red Sox, who lost a home series against struggling Toronto over the weekend, scored once in each of the last three innings to erase a two-run deficit and earn a 6-5 walk-off victory Monday that evened their record at Fenway Park (19-19).
Eduardo Nunez knocked in the tying run to extend his hitting streak to seven games, Andrew Benintendi owns a nine-game run after scoring the winning run Monday while Christian Vazquez has hit safely in 10 straight outings for Boston. Price has not suffered a loss since late April and looks to help the Red Sox improve to 5-1 in the season series while Carson Fulmer is expected open the game for the White Sox in a battle of Vanderbilt products. Slugger Jose Abreu tied Jermaine Dye for seventh on Chicago’s all-time list with his 164th homer in Monday’s setback and has had plenty of success at Fenway in his career, going 26-for-79 with five blasts and 17 RBIs in 20 career games. Yoan Moncada had a pair of hits, including a two-run homer, for Chicago on Monday and is 8-for-21 during his five-game hitting streak with five extra-base hits.

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox RH Carson Fulmer (1-1, 6.35 ERA) vs. Red Sox LH David Price (4-2, 3.39)
Fulmer has made nine relief appearances for the White Sox this season, allowing eight earned runs and 11 hits across 11 1/3 innings while striking out 13 and issuing 11 walks. The 25-year-old Floridian, who was the eighth overall pick in the 2015 draft, made eight starts last season among nine appearances and went 2-4 overall with an 8.07 ERA. Fulmer gave up five runs (three earned) and two hits while retiring three batters in two outings against Boston in May.
Price is unbeaten in his last eight trips to the mound, but managed to complete at least six innings in only half of them - all being quality starts. The 33-year-old Tennessee native limited Minnesota to one run on four hits over five innings in a no-decision at Minnesota on Tuesday after giving up six runs to Texas in 1 1/3 frames during the previous outing. Leury Garcia is 2-for-3 versus Price, who gave up three runs over six innings in a no-decision against the White Sox on May 2.
