Dodgers at Diamondbacks

A brief injury setback isn't preventing Ketel Marte from swinging a hot bat. Marte will strive to record his eighth straight multi-hit performance when the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game series.

Marte missed two games with a groin injury but returned to the lineup Monday and notched two hits in Arizona's 8-5 victory to improve to 19-for-29 during the hot stretch. The performance allowed him to match Luis Gonzalez's franchise record of seven straight multi-hit efforts and furthered his National League All-Star bid by raising his batting average to .312 to go with 20 homers and 51 RBIs. Marte helped halt the Dodgers' six-game winning streak as they kicked off a seven-game road trip. Max Muncy drove in three runs while Cody Bellinger reached base four times (two singles, two walks) to improve his major league-leading batting average to .353.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Dodgers RH Ross Stripling (3-2, 3.08 ERA) vs. Diamondbacks LH Robbie Ray (5-4, 3.87)

Stripling is stepping into the rotation spot of the injured Rich Hill, and Los Angeles manager Dave Roberts is hoping he can pitch four innings. The 29-year-old made six consecutive starts to begin the season - going 1-1 with a 2.65 ERA - but has come out of the bullpen in his last 14 appearances. Stripling is 1-4 with a 3.78 ERA in 20 career games (five starts) versus Arizona and has struggled against David Peralta (6-for-18, four doubles).

Ray did not factor in the decision against Colorado in his last turn after giving up three runs and four hits over six innings. The 27-year-old served up two homers for the second straight start and has gone just 1-3 over his last five outings. Ray is 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA in two starts against the Dodgers this season, falling to 7-4 with a 2.89 ERA in 17 career outings.

WALK-OFFS

1. The Dodgers will recall RHP Tony Gonsolin from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday to make his major-league debut.

2. Arizona 1B Christian Walker went 2-for-3 with a three-run homer in the series opener and is 14-for-33 with three blasts during his nine-game hitting streak.

3. Los Angeles 3B Justin Turner has gone just 2-for-15 over his last four games.
