Nationals at Marlins
Washington Nationals left-hander Patrick Corbin is on the verge of a career milestone and he'll have a chance to reach it against an opponent that he dominated a month ago. Corbin needs one strikeout to reach 1,000 as the visiting Nationals go for their seventh win in nine games when they resume a three-game series against the Miami Marlins on Wednesday night.
Trea Turner belted a three-run homer to back ace Max Scherzer as Washington beat the Marlins for the fifth time in eight meetings this season. Juan Soto delivered a two-run single to give him 11 RBIs during his 10-game hitting streak and seven in eight contests versus Miami. After scoring 20 runs during a four-game winning streak, the Marlins were limited to five hits and an RBI single by Curtis Granderson in the 6-1 loss. Miguel Rojas has hit safely in seven of eight games and collected multiple hits in four of the past six contests for Miami.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Nationals LH Patrick Corbin (6-5, 3.90 ERA) vs. Marlins RH Zac Gallen (0-0, 1.80)
Corbin halted a three-start losing streak last time out against Philadelphia, striking out eight and limiting the Phillies to one run and four hits over seven innings. He had been hit hard in his previous three turns, giving up 20 runs and 22 hits over 12 2/3 innings, but he pitched a masterpiece against Miami on May 25 with a four-hit shutout -- the second of his career. Corbin is 2-1 with a 3.72 ERA in seven starts versus Miami and has held Starlin Castro hitless in eight at-bats.
Gallen was drafted in the third round of the 2016 draft by St. Louis and got a chance to face the Cardinals in his major league debut on Thursday, striking out six while allowing one run and five hits over five innings of a no-decision. "It was awesome," Gallen said. "I mixed my pitches pretty well. We threw a lot of off-speed and kept them on their toes." The 23-year-old was dominant at Triple-A New Orleans, posting a 9-1 record and 1.77 ERA in 14 starts prior to his promotion.
