Athletics at Angels
The Oakland Athletics have been a force on the road of late and hope to conclude their current trek with another victory Sunday as they visit the Los Angeles Angels. Oakland has won six of its last seven away from home and four of five on its six-game road trip after blanking Los Angeles 4-0 on Saturday.
Matt Chapman belted a two-run homer and Brett Anderson gave up two hits over 7 2/3 strong innings for the Athletics, who have won 12 of 17 overall and are a season-high six games over .500 (45-39). Chapman has reached the 20-homer mark for the second straight campaign and is four away from matching the career high he set last year. Not all the news was good for Oakland, however, as Stephen Piscotty exited Saturday's contest with a sprained right knee and could land on the injured list. Rookie Luis Rengifo has gone 5-for-11 over the first three games of the series for the Angels, who have dropped back-to-back contests after winning five straight at home.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Athletics RH Chris Bassitt (4-3, 3.86 ERA) vs. Angels LH Andrew Heaney (1-1, 4.99)
Bassitt lasted only 3 1/3 innings at St. Louis on Tuesday but escaped with a no-decision after yielding three runs on four hits and four walks. It was the shortest outing of the season for the 30-year-old native of Ohio, who has limited opponents to a .198 batting average in six turns on the road this year. Bassitt improved to 1-2 with a 7.47 ERA in five career games (three starts) against the Angels on May 27 despite surrendering five runs and six hits in five frames.
Heaney will be making his seventh start of the season after recording his first win of 2019 on Tuesday, when he allowed one run on five hits and four walks over 5 1/3 innings against Cincinnati. The 28-year-old Oklahoman has issued four free passes in each of his last two turns after walking a total of six batters over 21 2/3 frames in his first four outings. Heaney is 2-1 with a 3.67 ERA in four career starts against the Athletics.
