Marlins at White Sox
The Miami Marlins began their six-game road trip with four losses during which they were outscored 30-8 before posting an impressive victory over the Chicago White Sox. Miami looks to record its second series win in three tries when it visits Chicago on Wednesday for the finale of their three-game set.
Caleb Smith was perfect through 5 2/3 innings and received all the offensive support he needed when the Marlins scored four runs in the fourth en route to a 5-1 triumph. Curtis Granderson and rookie Harold Ramirez homered while Starlin Castro went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Miami, which recorded only six hits while winning for just the second time in 11 road games. The White Sox finished with just a pair of singles after winning three of four contests following a seven-game slide. Jon Jay registered one of the base hits, which drove in Chicago's lone run, and has gone 3-for-8 over the first two games of the series.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Zac Gallen (0-2, 3.63 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Reynaldo Lopez (5-8, 5.76)
Gallen remains in search of his first major-league victory as he comes off the longest of his five career starts. The 23-year-old rookie from New Jersey worked 5 1/3 innings against the Dodgers in Los Angeles on Friday and took the loss despite allowing two runs - one earned - on three hits and four walks. Gallen, who will be facing Chicago for the first time, has registered 26 strikeouts and served up two home runs in 22 1/3 frames.
After a stretch during which he allowed fewer than two earned runs in four of five home starts, Lopez has surrendered 16 over 17 innings in his last three turns at Guaranteed Rate Field. However, four of the 25-year-old Dominican's last five turns have taken place on the road, including a victory at Tampa Bay on Friday in which he gave up two runs and six hits over seven frames. Lopez made his only career appearance against Miami in relief on Oct. 2, 2016, when he yielded two runs on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning while with Washington.
