Blue Jays at Royals

After the Toronto Blue Jays squandered a two-run lead in the sixth inning of the series opener, Cavan Biggio decided to take matters into his own hands. The 24-year-old rookie attempts to help Toronto clinch a series victory when it visits the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday for the middle contest of their three-game set.

Biggio snapped a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning on Monday with a leadoff homer and ignited a three-run rally in the ninth with an RBI single as the Blue Jays posted a 7-3 victory. The son of Hall-of-Famer Craig Biggio, he finished with the fourth three-hit performance of the season - two of which have come against the Royals. Bo Bichette, the son of former slugger Dante, made his major-league debut and singled in his first at-bat while Teoscar Hernandez belted his 15th homer of the year - eight of which have come this month - as Toronto improved to 4-1 versus Kansas City this campaign. Cheslor Cuthbert went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Royals, who have lost four of their last five contests after winning nine of their first 12 after the All-Star break.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Blue Jays RH Sean Reid-Foley (0-1, 3.55 ERA) vs. Royals LH Mike Montgomery (1-3, 6.09)

Reid-Foley is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to make his third start of the season and first since June 28, when he allowed two runs and five hits in 5 1/3 innings of a no-decision against Kansas City. The 23-year-old also made his major-league debut versus the Royals as he permitted three runs on six hits and three walks over five frames on Aug. 13, 2018 in a loss at Kansas City. Reid-Foley registered four strikeouts in 3 1/3 perfect innings of relief against Boston on July 2 in his most recent appearance for Toronto.

After being tagged for five runs in two innings of a road loss on July 19, the 30-year-old Californian gave up one run over five frames in a no-decision at home six days later. Montgomery will be facing Toronto for the first time in his career.
