Giants at Rockies

The San Francisco Giants turn to ace Madison Bumgarner to end a mini-skid on Saturday, when they continue their three-game series against the host Colorado Rockies. The Giants could use a strong outing from Bumgarner after seeing their push for the second National League wild card stall with five losses in their last eight games.

Trevor Story belted his 23rd home run and Ryan McMahon went 3-for-4 with a two-run shot in Friday’s 5-4 victory as the Rockies snapped their four-game losing streak against the Giants. Colorado manager Bud Black announced before the series opener that struggling closer Wade Davis would be replaced by Scott Oberg, who recorded the save in Friday’s contest with a scoreless ninth inning and has posted a 1.56 ERA over 52 frames. The Giants have lost consecutive games for the first time since June 26-27 and need more production from Brandon Crawford, who went 0-for-4 on Friday and has recorded only nine hits in his last 53 at-bats. One of the team’s biggest surprises has been Mike Yastrzemski, who belted his 10th home run on Friday and is batting .366 with five blasts over his last 18 contests.
