Marlins at Mets
The New York Mets have emerged victorious in 11 of their last 12 games to secure a winning record for the first time since May 2. The host Mets hope to follow up their doubleheader sweep of the Miami Marlins on Tuesday when they play the third contest of a four-game series versus their National League East rival.
Michael Conforto had a two-run single in the first inning of the nightcap before joining J.D. Davis and rookie Pete Alonso by belting a homer in the seventh of New York's 5-4 victory. The 26-year-old Conforto has gone deep in back-to-back days and owns a .303 batting average with seven homers and 17 RBIs since the All-Star break. Former Met Curtis Granderson ripped a go-ahead two-run double in the fifth inning of the nightcap for the reeling Marlins, who have dropped six of their last seven games. The 38-year-old Granderson has fared well versus Tuesday starter Zack Wheeler, going 4-for-9 with two doubles.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Jordan Yamamoto (4-2, 3.94 ERA) vs. Mets RH Zack Wheeler (8-6, 4.45)
Yamamoto has yielded 15 runs and four homers while posting an 0-2 record in his last three outings after starting his career with a 4-0 mark in his first six trips to the mound. The 23-year-old Hawaiian did not surrender a free pass in his no-decision against Minnesota on Thursday after allowing multiple walks in each of his first eight starts. Yamamoto, who has yet to face the Mets in his brief career, owns a 2-1 record with a 2.86 ERA in his four road starts while limiting the opposition to a .135 batting average.
Wheeler looks to follow in the footsteps of his last trip to the mound, as he scattered four hits and struck out seven in seven innings of Thursday's 4-0 win at the Chicago White Sox. "That was probably one of the better games I've ever seen him pitch," manager Mickey Callaway said of the 29-year-old. "Just relaxed, fluid, just executing pitch after pitch." Wheeler permitted two runs on nine hits while striking out 11 in seven frames of an 11-2 romp over Miami on May 10.
