Marlins at Rockies
The Colorado Rockies aim for their first series sweep in two months on Sunday in the finale of their three-game set against the visiting Miami Marlins, who have lost 12 of their last 15 contests. Ryan McMahon remained red-hot for Colorado, belting two more home runs in Saturday’s 11-4 victory.
McMahon has homered in three straight games and four of his last five for the Rockies, who have won three in a row for the first time since completing a series sweep against Arizona from June 18-20. Charlie Blackmon and Ian Desmond also went deep along with Trevor Story, who was 3-for-3 with two walks and is batting .407 with six blasts this month. Miami lost its eighth consecutive road game despite a strong effort from Garrett Cooper, who extended his hitting streak to eight games by going 2-for-4 with a solo homer and a double. Rookie Jon Berti added a solo blast from the leadoff spot and is batting .317 in 16 games since being recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on July 31.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins RH Jordan Yamamoto (4-4, 4.42 ERA) vs. Rockies RH Peter Lambert (2-3, 6.75)
Yamamoto lost his fourth straight decision on Tuesday after allowing four runs over five innings against the Los Angeles Dodgers. “I think Jordan actually was OK,” Marlins manager Don Mattingly told reporters. “I feel like, actually, his last three have been good. He was aggressive.” Since beginning the season 4-0 with 1.59 ERA in his first six career starts, the 23-year-old is 0-4 with an 8.28 ERA in his last five outings.
Lambert did not factor in the decision against Arizona on Monday after giving up three runs on four hits and five walks in five innings. The 22-year-old Californian, who is making his first career start versus Miami, owns a troubling 42-to-21 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 12 starts this season. Lambert won his first two turns after being promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque in early June but has failed to pitch past the sixth inning in his last 10 outings.
WALK-OFFS
1. The Rockies have clinched their first season series victory over Miami since 2008.
2. The Marlins have given up at least one home run in 19 consecutive games, which is the longest streak in club history.
3. Colorado placed Chad Bettis (hip) on the 10-day injured list and recalled fellow RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez from Triple-A Albuquerque.
