Rangers at Yankees
One night after seeing their streak of 220 games without being shut out come to an end, the New York Yankees responded with a vengeance and came out swinging. After rolling to a 10-1 victory over the Texas Rangers on Tuesday night, the Yankees can make it 21 consecutive unbeaten series at home with a win in Wednesday night's rubber match of a three-game set.
New York clubbed five home runs Tuesday, including a pair by Gary Sanchez, who broke his own franchise record for homers by a catcher with 34. Edwin Encarnacion returned from the injured list after a month's absence and also went deep to help the Yankees set a major league record with 13 players with at least 10 home runs. While New York extended its lead to 9 1/2 games atop the American League East, the Rangers were held to three hits 24 hours after hitting three homers in a 7-0 rout. Texas will look to hand the Yankees their first home series loss since April 12-14 when it sends 14-game winner Lance Lynn to the mound Wednesday to face Chad Green.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Rangers RH Lance Lynn (14-9, 3.77 ERA) vs. Yankees RH Chad Green (2-4, 5.01)
Green will serve as the opener for the first time since an ugly performance versus Cleveland on Aug. 15, when he was hammered for five runs and four hits (two homers) in only one-third of an inning. That ended a streak of nine consecutive scoreless appearances as an opener for the 28-year-old, who bounced back from the debacle versus the Indians by striking out 10 and permitting only one run over his last four trips to the mound. Elvis Andrus is 2-for-3 with a double off Green.
Lynn has been stuck on 14 victories for more than a month, running his winless streak to five starts last time out in a no-decision against Seattle after allowing three runs (one earned) on four hits over six innings. It marked the fifth time in seven starts that the 32-year-old allowed one earned run and was a solid bounce-back effort after giving up seven runs at the Chicago White Sox on Aug. 23. Didi Gregorius is 4-for-8 against Lynn, who is 5-8 with a 3.68 ERA away from home.
