Padres at Diamondbacks

The scorching-hot Arizona Diamondbacks look for their ninth win in the past 10 games when they host the San Diego Padres on Wednesday in the finale of a three-game set. The Diamondbacks are 3 1/2 games behind the Chicago Cubs for the National League's second wild card after posting a 2-1 victory Tuesday.

Arizona's spirited run has lifted its record to five games over .500, the first time it has hit that modest plateau since being 25-20 on May 17. All-Star Ketel Marte went 3-for-4 in Tuesday's win and is 5-for-9 with a homer, a triple, two doubles and four RBIs in the series. San Diego has lost nine of its last 14 games and is 10 games below .500 as it nears a ninth consecutive losing campaign. Greg Garcia reached base four times on two singles and two walks Tuesday after being 1-for-19 over the previous six games.
