Angels at White Sox
The Los Angeles Angels rallied after their MVP candidate Mike Trout left the game Friday in Chicago. They hope to have the superstar center fielder back in the lineup when they continue a three-game series with the host White Sox on Saturday.
Trout was 0-for-2 when he was replaced by Brian Goodwin in the bottom of the fifth inning of the series opener due to a toe issue, only to see his teammates rally from a three-run deficit for a 5-4 win. Goodwin's two-run homer in the eighth forged a 4-4 tie and Justin Upton ripped a leadoff home run in the ninth as Los Angeles defeated Chicago for the ninth time in the last 10 meetings. The Angels will try to maintain that dominant run behind lefty Andrew Heaney, who opposes Dylan Covey for the White Sox on Saturday. Tim Anderson hit a two-run homer and scored twice to pace Chicago on Friday, and the star shortstop is 14-for-32 during a seven-game hitting streak.

PITCHING MATCHUP: Angels LH Andrew Heaney (3-4, 4.16 ERA) vs. White Sox RH Dylan Covey (1-7, 6.88)
Heaney allowed three runs or fewer in six straight starts before he was reached for four over five innings of a loss to Boston his last time out. He defeated the White Sox at home Aug. 15 after giving up three runs across seven innings while striking out six with no walks. Jose Abreu has two home runs in eight at-bats versus Heaney, who is 2-0 with a 2.10 ERA in four career starts against Chicago.
Covey will make his first start since July 28, when he was rocked for five runs and six hits - two home runs - without retiring a batter against Minnesota. He followed that up with a pair of relief outings in August before being demoted to the minors. The 28-year-old was 1-0 with a 1.53 ERA over his last three starts with Triple-A Charlotte.
