Giants' Stratton, bullpen blank Phillies

Chris Stratton scattered four hits over six innings Friday night, and the San Francisco Giants welcomed back second baseman Joe Panik in a 4-0 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in San Francisco.

Panik, who had been out since April 27 following thumb surgery, walked and scored in the first inning, then singled home a run in the second, helping the Giants rebound from a 2-6 trip with a successful start to a six-game homestand.

Stratton (7-3) walked one and struck out seven against the same team that had beaten him 11-3 in Philadelphia last month. The Giants got swept in that four-game series, getting outscored by a 32-8 margin.

The right-hander pitched with a lead for most of his outing after a walk to Panik and a single by Buster Posey set up Evan Longoria's RBI single in the bottom of the first.

Panik's run-scoring single in the second inning came with two outs, after Stratton had sacrificed Mac Williamson into scoring position. Williamson had led off the inning with a walk.

The Giants added a third run off Phillies starter Nick Pivetta (4-4) in the fourth inning. Gorkys Hernandez delivered the run with a single, scoring Brandon Crawford, who had doubled.

Pivetta left for a pinch hitter after having allowed three runs and five hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out three.

Pivetta had been the winning pitcher in that earlier 11-3 home win over the Giants.

Tony Watson, Sam Dyson and Hunter Strickland followed Stratton with a scoreless inning apiece, allowing two hits and striking out six.

The combined shutout was the Giants' fifth of the season.

Crawford finished with two hits, including a double, for the Giants, who won their third straight at home.

Panik also had two hits, his ninth multi-hit outing in 24 games this season.

The Giants out-hit the Phillies 9-6.

Scott Kingery had two hits for Philadelphia, which had alternated losses and wins while opening its 10-game trip by splitting four games in Los Angeles against the Dodgers.
