UFC Heavyweight Shane del Rosario Passes Away After ‘Cardiovascular Collapse’

After a nearly two-week struggle, UFC heavyweight Shane del Rosario has succumbed to his injuries sustained from a “catastrophic cardiovascular collapse” back on November 26.

“No Limits” was found on the floor by his roommate, UFC flyweight Ian McCall, who called 911 and administered CPR.

The 30-year-old was treated at Hoag Memorial Presbyterian Hospital in Newport Beach, California, with his family making the decision to take him off life support on November 29.

Despite widespread reports that del Rosario had passed away on Thanksgiving (November 28), the well-rounded heavyweight competitor was actually still alive but with no signs of brain activity.

Del Rosario died late Monday evening, with BJPenn.com being the first media outlet to report the news on Tuesday night.

McCall posted a photo tribute on Instagram, with a heartfelt good bye to go along with the collage.

“RIP to one of the best people I've ever had the honor to have in my life and call my best friend.@shanedelrosario helped me threw the toughest time in my life and helped me raise my daughter. Love you big fella. #ohana,” he wrote.

The California native, after a successful Muay Thai and kickboxing career, stormed onto the MMA scene in August 2011.

Del Rosario scored 11 straight victories, all stoppages, before being hit by a drunk driver sidelined the fighter for a year between May 2011 and May 2012.

He never looked the same after the accident though, suffering knockout losses against both of his UFC fights against Stipe Miocic and Pat Berry.

eDraft offers their deepest condolences to the friends and family of del Rosario during this difficult time.
