Nuggets at 76ers

THE STORY: The Philadelphia 76ers are off to their best start to a season since going 11-2 in 2000-01, the last time the team advanced to the NBA Finals. Jrue Holiday led the way with 24 points as the Sixers knocked off the Milwaukee Bucks 94-82 on Monday night. Now a perfect 6-0 at home, Philadelphia enters a stretch where it will play nine of its next 10 games at Wells Fargo Center. On Wednesday, the 76ers welcome the Denver Nuggets, who will be playing the second game of a back-to-back. Corey Brewer scored a season-high 22 points as the Nuggets started their five-game road trip with a 105-95 victory over the Bucks on Tuesday night.

ABOUT THE NUGGETS (9-5): George Karl’s squad is an impressive 7-3 in January. Offense hasn’t been a problem for the Nuggets, which has scored 100 or more points in eight of the last 14 games and ranks second in the league at 104.1 per game. They may get an added boost to the offense on Wednesday, as shooting guard Rudy Fernandez may be ready to return to action after missing time with a right Achilles strain.

ABOUT THE 76ERS (10-3): Coach Doug Collins couldn’t have asked for a better start. The Sixers have won three straight and are firing on all cylinders. Not only are they outscoring the opposition by a league-best 15 points per game, they’re holding opponents to 85.8 points per game, second-fewest in the league. Winners of nine of its last 10 games, Philadelphia will be looking to win its fourth straight over Denver for the first time since 1980.

BUZZER BEATERS:
