Pistons at Nets

The Detroit Pistons will try to follow up a perfect homestand with their first road win of the season when they visit the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. After opening the season with a setback at Toronto, the Pistons knocked off three straight at home by an average of 18 points -- capped by Tuesday's 102-89 victory over the New York Knicks.

Tobias Harris continued his hot start with 25 points and 10 rebounds as Detroit utilized some rare success from beyond the arc to run away from the Knicks. The Pistons entered the night with a 3-point percentage of 26.2 but hit 8-of-13 versus New York, led by Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (4-of-6), Marcus Morris (2-of-3) and Harris (2-of-3). The Nets were 1-2 with two narrow losses before they looked flat in a 118-88 loss to the Chicago Bulls at home on Monday. They continued to fire up 3-pointers at a high volume with 31 attempts, but just five went in and the bench was 2-of-22 in that department.

ABOUT THE PISTONS (3-1): Harris was 8-of-12 from the floor versus New York and has shot at least 50 percent in all four games, including a 7-of-13 showing from long range. Caldwell-Pope averaged 4.5 points in the season's first two games but has posted 21 and 19 in his last two, respectively. Andre Drummond averaged 20 points and 14 rebounds as Detroit took three of four meetings with Brooklyn last season.

ABOUT THE NETS (1-3): Brooklyn was last in the NBA in 2015-16 in opponents' field-goal percentage (47.9) and it has begun to trend in that direction again, allowing a 50.4-percent rate in its three losses. "Our first group needs to come out with the right energy and the right intensity," center Brook Lopez told reporters after the Nets allowed 38 points in the first quarter against the Bulls. "We were flat, especially defensively. ... We were just completely outmatched and outclassed in that category. And the way our team is made up, our DNA, our identity we can't have that happen." Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has returned from an injury-marred rookie campaign to help out on that end, but he has struggled mightily on offense while scoring 11 points on 4-of-19 shooting in 102 minutes.
