Jazz at Mavericks

The Utah Jazz have been road warriors early in the season and will try to remain perfect away from home when they visit the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. After dropping both ends of a two-game homestand, the Jazz have opened a four-game trek with victories at Houston and New Orleans to improve to 3-0 on the road.

Ricky Rubio led the way in Saturday's 132-111 win over the Pelicans with 28 points and 12 assists while Rudy Gobert recorded 25 points and 14 rebounds as Utah shot a season-high 52.3 percent. "We feel like we don't fear anyone," Gobert told NBA TV. "We just want to keep getting better and who knows, we can surprise some people." The Mavericks are 2-0 at home but 0-3 on the road after Friday's 116-107 loss at Toronto. Rookie Luka Doncic scored 22 points in the setback and is averaging 19.6 through the first five games of his career.

ABOUT THE JAZZ (3-2): Donovan Mitchell has emerged from an early-season slump on the road trip, making 21-of-35 shots - 7-of-13 from 3-point range - and averaging 30 points in the two games. The second-year star shot 34.4 percent through the first three contests and was 8-for-29 from beyond the arc. The slump seems to have rubbed off on teammate Joe Ingles, who is 4-for-17 from long range over a three-game span after going 11-for-17 to start the season.

ABOUT THE MAVERICKS (2-3): Veteran forward Harrison Barnes, who led Dallas in scoring last season with an average of 18.9 points per game, made his season debut at Toronto after missing the first four contests due to a hamstring strain. The 26-year-old showed some rust with a 5-for-17 effort from the floor, but his presence was felt. "He gives us a dimension that we desperately need, so it's great to have him back out there," coach Rick Carlisle told reporters of Barnes, who shot 37.5 percent in three games against Utah last season.

BUZZER BEATERS

2. Mavericks PG Dennis Smith Jr. (ankle) missed Friday's contest but expects to be back in the lineup against the Jazz.
