Knicks at 76ers
The Philadelphia 76ers saw a 10-game homecourt unbeaten streak snapped last Friday. The 76ers attempt to start a new stretch of home wins when they entertain the New York Knicks on Wednesday.
Philadelphia was disappointed with Friday's 121-112 home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers and then was trailing by 20 on the road two nights later before recovering to post a 127-125 win over the Brooklyn Nets. "I think it was being desperate, playing desperate," point guard Ben Simmons told reporters of the comeback. "We needed that win. Obviously coming off a loss to the Cavaliers wasn't something we wanted." The Knicks had their three-game winning streak snapped when they suffered a 115-108 road loss against the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday. New York shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. scored 19 points in the setback, but is just 13-of-46 shooting over the past three contests.

ABOUT THE KNICKS (7-15): Undrafted rookie guard Allonzo Trier had a superb outing against Detroit with 24 points to go along with season bests of 10 rebounds and seven assists. Trier has scored in double digits in three straight games - including a season-high 25 against the New Orleans Pelicans last Friday - and coach David Fizdale is realizing he can count on the 22-year-old. "One thing I did with him that I hadn't done a lot of was I played him at the point guard spot," Fizdale told reporters after the loss to the Pistons. "I really thought he handled it well and we went on a run with him at that position so I was really happy with the way he competed."
ABOUT THE 76ERS (14-8): Recent acquisition Jimmy Butler drained the game-winning 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left against the Nets to cap an effort that included season bests of 34 points of 12 rebounds. Butler is averaging 20.3 points in seven games since being obtained from the Minnesota Timberwolves and has expressed how much he likes his new team - and early indications are that the players like him too. "He's fitting in nicely," star center Joel Embiid told reporters. "We are still getting adjusted, and performances like (Sunday) make a big difference."
