Dwight Howard had 24 points and 18 rebounds to help the Orlando Magic to a 112-103 victory over the New York Knicks on Thursday.

Hedo Turkoglu added 17 points and nine rebounds as Orlando (21-12) won its fifth straight contest.

Amar’e Stoudemire scored 30 points and Wilson Chandler had 29 points and nine rebounds as New York (18-14) lost for the fifth time in seven games.

The Knicks trailed by as many as 20 points but cut Orlando’s lead to four points with just over three minutes to play.

Turkoglu responded with a 3-pointer basket with 2:21 remaining and later made a layup that gave Orlando an eight-point advantage with 1:46 to play.

J.J. Redick scored 15 points while Brandon Bass and Ryan Anderson scored 14 points apiece for the Magic.

Shawne Williams scored 15 points and Raymond Felton added 14 points for New York.

Orlando scored 40 points in the second quarter to take an 18-point halftime lead.

The Magic outrebounded the Knicks 51-35.
