Grizzlies 99, 76ers 94
Zach Randolph led the way with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and Rudy Gay scored six of his 16 points in the final 4:15 as the Memphis Grizzlies came from 21 points down to edge the Philadelphia 76ers, 99-94, on Friday.
Mike Conley added 13 points and Marc Gasol scored 12 for Memphis.
Philadelphia led 44-40 at the half and really opened it up in the third, beginning the quarter with a 26-9 burst to push the lead to 21 points. The Grizzlies recovered a bit at the end of the frame, closing on an 8-3 spurt.
Memphis wasn’t done, forcing two straight turnovers and blocking a shot to spark an 11-0 run and take the lead at 85-84 when Randolph converted a three-point play with 1:45 left. Louis Williams split a pair of free throws to end the Sixers’ drought, but Gay came back with a jumper to push it back to 87-85 and Philadelphia committed a shot clock violation on its next possession.
Randolph went 6 of 6 from the free throw line in the final eight seconds to seal it.
Jrue Holiday and Jodie Meeks scored 16 points apiece for the Sixers.
