76ers 77, Spurs 71

Jrue Holiday led the way with 27 points as the Philadelphia 76ers took down the San Antonio Spurs, 77-71, on Friday.

Spencer Hawes was the only other player to reach double figures, finishing with 13 points for the 76ers. Philadelphia limited the top team in the NBA to 33 percent shooting and forced 16 turnovers to overcome a 57-46 rebounding disadvantage.

The 76ers really locked down on defense in the second half, limiting the Spurs to 25 points after the break.

It looked like it was going to be a high-scoring affair in the first quarter when Philadelphia jumped out to a 27-22 lead after one quarter, getting 13 from Holiday in the frame. San Antonio came back to tie it, 46-46, going into the break and took a quick lead in the third before the Sixers locked down.

Tim Duncan had 16 points and 13 rebounds and Antonio McDyess added 11 and 11 for the Spurs, who had a four-game winning streak snapped and fell to 4-2 on their nine-game “Rodeo Road Trip."
