Cavaliers 104, Lakers 99
Ramon Sessions had a season-high 32 points and eight assists off the bench to lead the Cleveland Cavaliers to a stunning 104-99 victory over the struggling defending-champion Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.
The Lakers have lost three straight to close their seven-game, two-week road trip, but this was the worst of all. The Cavs just last week ended a 26-game losing streak, tied for the longest in the history of professional sports.
Sessions replaced Mo Williams less than four minutes into the game when Williams picked up his second quick foul. Williams didn’t play the rest of the night.
Pau Gasol had 30 points and 20 rebounds and Derek Fisher had 19 points for the Lakers. Kobe Bryant finished with 17 points on a tough 8-of-24 shooting night and missed a key 3-pointer in the closing seconds.
Antawn Jamison had 19 points and 10 rebounds and J.J. Hickson had 13 points and 15 rebounds for the Cavs, who enter the All-Star break on an unexpected high. Their 112-57 loss to the Lakers last month set team records for fewest points in a game and worst loss in franchise history.
